Psalm 14:1-3 says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Atheism is defined as “the disbelief of the existence of God, or supreme intelligent being.” We see this disbelief in Psalm 14:1, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” At this time in human history, atheism was widespread globally. In verse 2, God looked down from heaven and saw that no one understood or sought Him.
The United States of America was founded on Christian principles. There has never been in the U.S. a rate of atheism anywhere close to what it was in Psalm 14. Many years ago, the vast majority of Americans would identify as Christians. Today, in 2022, things are rapidly changing. The percentage of claimed “Christians” is rapidly decreasing. The percentage of atheists is rapidly increasing. These facts can be found in the statistics, polls, and observation. Just last week, in the span of one hour of soul winning, I encountered two atheists from two different houses. Atheism is becoming more common in this present day. Less people believe in God. Less people have an understanding of the Bible. Less people have ever heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is becoming a great problem in our country. Atheism is a major factor in the decline of the morality and decency of our country. I know this by Psalm 14:1b, “They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” Without the foundation of God’s Word, what is truth? What is right and wrong? What is moral and immoral? Without a belief in God, truth becomes what’s right in their own eyes. Atheism leads to corruption and abomination.
