Our salvation testimony is the second greatest tool we possess for evangelizing. God’s Word convicts and reveals the need of salvation. In addition to the Bible, our testimony can be a useful tool for soul winning.
The Apostle Paul was imprisoned in Caesarea in Acts 23-26. Paul stood before Governor Festus and King Agrippa to give his defense in Acts chapter 26. Agrippa permitted Paul to speak for himself. While using this time, Paul shared his salvation testimony. Acts 26:12-16 says “Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee.” After giving the Gospel and his testimony, Paul asked “King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” This verse of Scripture shows volumes about the power of our testimony. We do not know if King Agrippa ever accepted Christ. However, Paul’s testimony almost persuaded him to be a Christian.
If you find opportunities to witness, tell your story about how you were saved. Your testimony may be the proof that the lost want to see. Showing how Jesus changed your life may be effective while witnessing. John 1:6-7 reads, “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.” Similarly like John the Baptist, let us bear witness of the Light. Always be ready and willing to tell your testimony which can be a great tool for witnessing.
