Our Vision, Our Mission, Our Calling

Glorifying the Living God

We believe the ultimate purpose of any local church should be to love God and glorify God. 1 Chronicles 16:28,29 says, “Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 29 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”  We believe that this is doctrinally sound and practical.  Truly loving God and glorifying Him will affect everything that we do. Jesus is the Head of the church, and we intend to follow His will and accomplish His purposes in a way that please Him and shows this world why He is named, Wonderful.

1 Corinthians 6:20: For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Sharing the Gospel (Good News)

We endeavor to present the good news of our Saviour, Jesus.  1 Corinthians 15:3,4 says, “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:.”  This church preaches, teaches, and practices the Great Commission.  All believers are commanded to share the Gospel of Jesus with this blinded world.

More

Perfecting the Saints

We desire to use the gifts God has given us for the perfecting of the saints.  Twin Ports is a training ground for every believer.  Ephesians 4:12,13 says, “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:.”

Bible Truth For Daily Living

Edification & Encouragement

We strive to preach and teach the Word of God.  The Bible is our foundation and is our final authority in this world.  Through the application of the truths in God’s Word, we desire to help our members develop Christ-like personalities that magnify the person and glory of God.  We also desire to encourage believers in their daily walk with the Lord.

Discipleship

We desire to train believers in sound doctrine.  Matthew 28:19,20 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  We are commanded to go beyond just sharing the gospel, but also “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”  We strive to offer sound Bible teaching for new believers, and as a result, discipleship booklets are available and the Twin Ports Baptist Church Bible Institute was started.
