Verses: “31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. 32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.”
We tend to worship success and study the methods of achievers because we typically place more value on material things over spiritual things. From reading self-improvement books to attending self-help seminars, we seek to discover the methods others have followed for the purpose of duplicating them in our own lives. The danger in allowing yourself to admire wicked men is that you will likely imitate many of their negative and sinful habits. It may seem that their worldliness is a separate issue, but being envious of sinners leads to following the actions of sinners. “Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.” (1 Tim 6:5). “His secret” refers to His tender counsel and close fellowship which only the righteous enjoy and it is a treasure without price. “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends…” (Jn 15:15)
