28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
What? A prayer that God will not hear? A sinner that God will not forgive? All men will call out to God when they are in trouble, though it is not God they are seeking, but relief from their problem. They reject the knowledge of God, refuse God’s wisdom, and ignore God’s warnings. They do not want to know God; they do not see that they are sinners; they do not accept that they are under Divine judgment. They simply want to escape their circumstances. God not only knows what man does, He also knows why he does it. “… The LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1 Sam 16:7). The question is not so much why will God not hear man, but why does man refuse to hear God? The answer to that question is the key to opening God’s ear. It is not that He cannot hear the cry of the unrepentant sinner, but that He refuses to hear it until that man decides to listen to God. Look up Isaiah 59:1-2
